The town is named after Eli the High Priest, the last priest to serve in the Tabernacle in Shiloh. Eli is an urban town with 9 neighborhoods. Established in 1984, there are 850 families living in Eli today. Along with the various local services and educational institutions, there is also a shopping center that includes a supermarket, clothing stores for women and children, a home décor shop, a shoe store, restaurants and more. There is also a swimming pool in Eli.
